About The Dodge Durango

The Durango takes a practical three-row SUV and infuses it with the muscle car heritage that is a defining feature of the Dodge brand. The muscle car styling catches the eye, while the available V8 options make for some seriously impressive performance credentials. But the Durango also features huge amounts of cargo space, an available third row of seats, and a best-in-class towing capacity. The Durango gives you the look and feel of a muscle car without the compromises that usually come with such a vehicle. The trim lineup is immense, and Dodge gives you a choice of four different engines, including the absolute beast that is the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® SRT V8 in the 710-horsepower Hellcat. Creature comforts are plentiful as well, and the Uconnect® infotainment system earns constant praise from the automotive press. This zero-compromise muscle machine is sure to put a smile on your face.

What the Critics Say

“The Durango SRT, which is what we tested, is a testament to Dodge's commitment to performance. The engine is powerful, accelerating this 5,500-pound behemoth effortlessly to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Yet the Durango is also well mannered in everyday driving. Braking performance is strong and smooth. The transmission's shifts are also buttery smooth and don't feel the least bit abrupt in stop-and-go traffic.” – Edmunds

“In a segment full of exceedingly practical vehicles, the Dodge Durango stands out as the muscle car alternative to its three-row peers. Its styling invokes the popular Charger sedan, both in terms of its bulging fenders and its gaping grille. Impressive towing capability and a range of available V-8 engines further sets the Durango apart from its peers that are largely powered by four- or six-cylinder powerplants.” – MotorTrend

Dodge Durango Features

Dodge Durango Hellcat

Muscle Car Performance

While most of the Durango’s rivals come with a four-cylinder engine as standard, the Durango’s default engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 that produces 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. That’s a great starting point, but there’s more. The first of the optional engines is a 5.7-liter V8 that produces 360 horsepower, 390 lb-ft of torque, and very genuine muscle car feel. Those looking for more power can look to the SRT® 392, which comes with a 6.4-liter V8, the same that you’ll find in other 392-badged Stellantis vehicles. This produces 475 horsepower, and can propel the Durango to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. But for the absolute most power you get in the Durango, there is the Hellcat. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® SRT V8 engine produces 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. It will go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, an absolutely unbelievable time for a three-row SUV. Six-piston high-performance Brembo brakes come standard on multiple trims, and the Bilstein® Active-Damping High-Performance Suspension provides the kind of handling that you might not have thought possible in such a large vehicle.

Dodge Durango Cargo Space

Incredible Practicality

All of that performance is great and all, but it has limited appeal if the vehicle it comes with isn’t practical. That’s the real advantage of the Durango, you don’t have to choose between performance and practicality. In base form, the Durango comes with seating for five and a huge cargo area in the back, 43.3 cubic feet of it. Every other trim comes with seating for 7, but all of them can fold down all of the seats behind the front row to make for 85.1 cubic feet of cargo space. A power liftgate also makes it easy to load and unload whatever cargo you need to haul. Massive as this is, the Durango’s towing capacity of 8,700 pounds leads its class, something you’re unlikely to find on too many performance vehicles. And of course, no family vehicle is truly practical without advanced safety features. So the Durango incorporates a number of proven effective features, like Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, rain-sensing wipers, Blind Spot Monitoring, and a seriously powerful advanced braking system. All-wheel drive is also available on every trim, and comes standard on several.

Dodge Durango Interior

Copious Creature Comforts

The Durango has a spacious interior, and it’s every bit as comfortable as it looks. Heated front seats are standard, as is a heated sterling wheel on most trims. Heated and ventilated seats trimmed in Nappa leather are available as well, and an available power sunroof adds some natural light. The Uconnect® system in the Durango is exceptionally easy to use, and most trims come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and Uconnect® 5. Those that don’t have the larger screen still get an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Uconnect® 4, and both systems are compatible with both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. A six-speaker Alpine® stereo system comes standard, and can be upgraded to a 9-speaker version. For audiophiles, there is also the option of a Harman Kardon® system with a whopping 19 speakers. Of course, plenty of Durango buyers just want to listen to the sound of the engine, but it’s good to have options.
