About the Jeep Cherokee

Riding on a storied heritage that spans decades, the legendary Jeep Cherokee remains a standout SUV option for adventurous drivers searching for eye-catching style and go-anywhere capability. Shoppers can choose from two distinct engine options along with two individual versions of the iconic Jeep® Active Drive 4X4 system, helping the Cherokee conquer some of the most challenging terrain in the wilderness. You’ll stand out from the ordinary thanks to striking exterior design elements like its iconic seven-slot front grille, available front recovery hooks, and optional bold 19-inch alloy wheels. Ready to escape the harsh conditions of the great outdoors? Inside the Cherokee, you’ll find a premium interior with upscale amenities including available heated leather upholstery, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and a Nine-Speaker Alpine® Premium Sound System. Advanced technology is yet another strength of the Jeep Cherokee, highlighted by the responsive Uconnect® 4 infotainment system across the entire model range. Finally, every Cherokee comes standard with an impressive collection of active safety features to provide an extra layer of protection behind the wheel.

What the Critics Say

“The latest Jeep Cherokee ditches its nontraditional styling for a more familial Grand Cherokee Light design. The V6 here is still an option, but there's a hot turbocharged 2.0-liter engine as well. In proper Jeep fashion, the Cherokee remains one of the most capable compact SUVs in the segment.” – Edmunds

“Where the Jeep Cherokee really shines is off-road. As the name on the hood suggests, this is a better off-roader than almost all of its rivals. The Active Drive Lock AWD system available for the Trailhawk model gives this SUV a rear locker, and even the more affordable Active Drive II system has a 2-speed transfer case. These sophisticated AWD systems — combined with features like real skid plates, off-road suspension, and hill descent control — make the Cherokee Trailhawk a serious off-roader.” – Kelley Blue Book

What’s New For 2023

There are a number of big changes to the Jeep Cherokee for the 2023 model year. The trim range has been condensed down to two choices – Altitude Lux and Trailhawk. The previously available 3.2-liter engine has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 2.4-liter and turbocharged 2.0-liter as the engine choices for the Cherokee. Expected to receive a significant redesign as soon as next year, 2023 could be your final opportunity to experience the current generation of the Jeep Cherokee.

Jeep Cherokee Features

Jeep Cherokee Performance

Rugged Capability

Engineered with Trail Rated® capability, the Jeep Cherokee has the ability to explore areas where other compact SUVs fear to tread. Under the hood, you’ll have your choice of either a standard 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® I-4 (180 HP / 171 TQ) or an available 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine (270 HP / 295 TQ), each paired with a responsive 9-speed automatic transmission. When the tarmac turns to trails, the optional Jeep® Active Drive Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) System features a unique disconnecting rear axle that adds efficiency to its outstanding capability. 4X4 Cherokee models also benefit from a Jeep Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System, helping you stand up to the challenges of Mother Nature’s trickiest conditions. These selectable drive modes include Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, and Rock. Cherokee Trailhawk can be easily recognized by their red tow recovery hooks and off-road accent-color fascias with rear fascia skid plates for added protection on the trails. Muscular wheel flares prominently demonstrate the stylish available off-road aluminum wheels and all-terrain tires of the Jeep Cherokee.
